Solihull

Solihull is situated in the geographical centre of the country - marked by a stone cross on Meriden village green and was first recorded c1170 in the Red Book of the Exchequer.

The 2002 estimate of the population of Solihull was 199,600 with a quarter aged between 0-20 and another quarter over 60 years old, with 5.41% coming from a Black or Ethnic Minority background.

Solihull contains 69 square miles of designated greenbelt land, has the rivers Blythe and Cole as well as The Grand Union and Stratford canals.

Solihull is served by superb road, rail and air links and is home to the world-famous National Exhibition Centre (NEC), which attracts over 4 million visitors each year. It is one of the busiest centres in Europe, staging prestigious shows and exhibitions throughout the year. Just four miles from the heart of the borough, the NEC is located next to Birmingham International Airport (in the top five UK airports), Birmingham International Railway Station and the M42 motorway.

The Borough is proud to be the home of Land Rover żżż one of the worlds most universally identified car manufactures synonymous with four-wheel drive vehicles, Birmingham and Monkspath Business Parks and also Blythe Valley Business Park, which is the Midlands’ own ‘Silicon Valley’ featuring high-tech IT companies.
